Afterschool Teaching Artist

WonderArts reaches kids in after-school programs at multiple elementary schools in the area. These fun and engaging classes provide necessary creative enrichment. Students are introduced to new materials, skills and ideas while developing their abilities to problem solve and make things!
 
We are currently looking for instructors who specialize in animation, culinary skills, fiber arts, art history (with the ability to lead hands-on art projects), and/or sculpture. See descriptions of the classes we're running here

Position 
Reporting to the Executive Director and Program Coordinator, Teaching Artists are responsible for planning and implementing their own curriculum, including teaching lessons, facilitating activities, and bringing their own materials for classes.  
 
Employment 
Teaching Artist positions are contract-specific positions available at a part time level. Teaching artists are independent contractors who submit an invoice for services and receive a 1099 at the end of the year. Teaching Artists run off-site activities at schools and community venues. Teaching artists are eligible for mileage reimbursement. This position is for 1.5 - 5 hours a week, depending upon availability and schedule. Multiple contracted positions are available. Current schools include Lakeview Elementary, Hardwick Elementary, Craftsbury Academy, Wolcott Elementary and Albany Community School. 
 
Qualifications
BA/BS preferred in education, child development, dance/music/arts or related field 
Minimum 2 years work experience in education, human services, private and/or after school dance and/or music instruction
Experience working with underserved populations
Background check and fingerprinting required

Dance & Movement Teaching Artist

WonderArts hosts a wide variety of programs throughout the year for diverse age groups. One of our programs, Get Up and Move! is a movement and dance class for pre-schools, emphasizing body positivity and movement development for kids 5 & under. Students are introduced to new music, motions, and fun games lead by experienced teaching artists.
 
We are looking for instructors who specialize in early childhood education and can create and lead classes based on movement, dance, and music.
 
Position 
Reporting to the Executive Director and Program Coordinator, Get Up and Move! teaching artists are responsible for planning and implementing the curriculum of the WonderArts in-school programs, including teaching lessons, facilitating activities, maintaining communication with schools, and documenting student progress in a manner consistent with organization systems and standards.

Afterschool Instructor

Do you have a passion for teaching kids through experiential education and the arts? 

Afterschool Instructors are responsible for planning and implementing the curriculum of the WonderArts Afterschool Programs, including teaching lessons, facilitating activities and events, maintaining communication with schools, and documenting student progress in a manner consistent with organization systems and standards.

During the academic school year, WonderArts teaches a wide variety of experiential and art based classes at over seven local elementary schools, four preschools, and two high schools. Classes include: visual art, music, improv, design & build, engineering, nature exploration, fiber arts, sculpture, and more. We believe that the process of creating builds self-confidence, positive communication skills, social & emotional development, and more. We are looking for instructors who can positively engage grades K-8 with creative materials and topics, in the afterschool setting.
